Out on the Limb

Good Day Bad Day

The bad first...

I stomped out of this morning's meeting. Some oldtimer, who should have known better, decided to blatantly talk politics. I wonder what the newcomers (3) thought.

...and the good:

I saw a grown man hopping like a frog in Balboa Park. He was surrounded by children, so I think I can safely assume he is playfully sane.

AND I found two more bent coins today. I never told you about the coins...did I? Here's the deal

A mystery person has been leaving bent coins on the city sidewalks. I have been finding them since I arrived in July. Today I found 2 more. The coins are found in several blocks, but one block in particular is a hot spot. I don't walk that area much any more, but when I did I was finding at least a penny a day.

mystery coins

Are they meant as gifts to the Gods? (oops)
A favorite pasttime of someone who is horribly bored?
An anti-establishment message?

What do you think?

I have looked for the perp, and I suspect a very wrinkled homeless person. I can't tell if this person is a he or a she; but he/she is often sitting at the hot spot.

I'm not going to ask. Would you?

I wonder. This area is not near the trolley; and the pennies are found carefully distributed on the sidewalks. And the coins look like someone used pliers. But I've been wrong before!! :)

How strange that is. I would ask the homeless person. Why not? What's the big deal in doing so? I'd be that curious. Here in Chicago someone (for years and years) has been dropping gold coins into the Salvation Army buckets @ Christmas time and no one knows who the person is and no one claims doing so either. STRANGE

I love these random acts. There is a term for artists leaving artwork on the streets to be taken by anyone, but I can't remember that term. Then again, I can't remember a lot of things these days.

Happy weekend.

Scott, are you thinking of guerilla art?

Meow, I've been thinking about your comment. You're right. So maybe I'll ask one of these days.
