Out on the Limb

In Memory Of September 11, 2001

Sunday, September 11, 2005

from Russia, with love:
VOLGOGRAD, September 11 (RIA Novosti, Irina Ilyicheva) - A massive anti-terrorist rally was held Sunday in the central Russian city of Volgograd (formerly Stalingrad) to commemorate the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington this day four years ago.

About 500,000 local residents came together at 11:11 Sunday morning to form a 40-kilometer-long human chain in solidarity with the 9/11 survivors and bereaved. They stood side by side, holding hands, to reemphasize the need for international unity in the fight against terrorism.

The city came under the international spotlight during World War II, as the scene of one of the war's bloodiest and longest battles (it lasted 200 days, from August 1942 through February 1943).
We thank you, dear friends.
