Out on the Limb

Push and Pull

Friday, April 22, 2005

I mentioned yesterday that I might try to describe the "how and why" my husband and I plan to sell this beautiful spot on Earth to live in a mobile home.

The Push
overworked and underpaid
limited health care is the only benefit my employers pay
too much yard for too many years
our commute to work takes two hours each day

The Pull
new horizonsand a change of pace
the plan is to slow down and enjoy the moment
meeting people out and about
let's learn to live simply and wisely for Earth's sake

HAPPY EARTH DAY!

Happy Earth Day to you as well :):). So, plan to do lots of travel or just the Western USA (whenever you start travelling).

About the large yard and living simple, I was thinking that the yard was going to be green and not destroyed under you. But, you never who would move into your house and what they are going to do that yard. I hope it'll be kept as it is now and destroyed with artificial things.

Good morning, KL. As usual, you go to the heart of the matter. I can't bear to think of this lot being mis-used. I have found a "green" realtor in Seattle, whom I have not contacted yet. Also, I do not have the finances to remodel properly for alternative energy use. Perhaps someone from California?

I am determined I will not sell to a Republican because I don't think it is possible to care for Earth and be a Republican at the same time (see NRDC).

This land deserves forward-thinking people, preferably with young kids who need room to run and who will learn to love the sound of the wind in the trees.
